Blog: The second in the 2026 series Shifting Atmospheres
‘Seismic Shift’ (No.170) Black Maire and Rata
I’d like to think that each shofar I make is a little better than the previous one, and this one lives up to that, likely the best one yet. Loud, sharp and on a good day, a full 7 reasonably spaced notes
What I think we in New Zealand need in Election year 2026 is a permanent, far-reaching kingdom and liberating reorientation. A spiritual revival yes, but more comprehensive than a revival of ‘religion’ more like a complete overhaul and systemic reset
A ‘seismic shift’ in the spatial sense is a massive, sudden, and fundamental change in a situation, trend, or public opinion, often altering the landscape of an industry or society. Originating as a metaphor for the dramatic geological changes caused by earthquakes, it signifies a permanent, far-reaching reorientation
Key Aspects of a Seismic Shift:
* Dramatic Impact: It represents a major disruption rather than a minor adjustment.
* Fundamental Reorientation: It indicates a complete change in how something is understood or handled.
* Seismic Examples:
* Society/Culture: A massive change in public attitudes, cultural norms and moral expectations
* Business/Economics: A radical shift in industry trends, such as a move from prioritising profit to prioritising people
* Political Leadership/Governance: One example among many in the political arena; Shifting from corporate globalist to strategic nationalist
* Church/leadership: Shifting from a business to a body, from entertainment to engagement
* Education/indoctrination: To shift from social engineering to practical knowledge, life skills and factual information
That’s simply the start of stating the shifts that in my opinion, need to take place, a complete national (though not just NZ) systemic rearrangement that is more than a spiritual revival in the historical sense, a global seismic shift - a ‘New Jerusalem’ (Revelation 20-21) and what could be a chaotic, tumultuous and painful societal and spiritual shift. Hebrews 12:26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens
So that’s the intention of this shofar: The sound it carries, the song it sings and the analogies inscribed within. Black Maire and Rata, with the flaming sword of the spirit reminiscent of a sword in the hands of the angels Michael, Gabriel or other hosts of heaven bring seismic and systemic shifts to the nations and kingdoms of this country and cosmos we call home.
